The Singapore Memerang and Sunbirds national rugby league teams have finalised their match day squads ahead of their respective historic games in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
For the Memerang, the game against hosts Vanuatu is set to be the first time that the national men’s team will play for international ranking points having submitted their application to the Asia-Pacific Rugby League for Observer Member nation status.
The team will feature a number of returning players such as captain Wayne Baxter; brothers Liam, Connor and Fynn Postlethwaite and experienced players Tyreeq Salleh-Meadows, Tyrell Anton, Jake Tobin and Tom Chamberlain, all of whom will play their third straight international game having featured in both games in Manila last year. Joining the group will be exciting newcomers such as Izidihar Azmi, Lucas Dulat and Judah Jury amongst others.

For the Sunbirds, this will be the first time the newly formed women’s national team will get to represent the red of Singapore on the international stage, with a 9-a-side format against an experienced Vanuatu team.
Head Coach Phill Browne has been able to select a group of players from both Singapore such as Aqilah Adriana, Loo Zi Jia and Eunice Chu and players of Singaporean heritage now residing in Australia such as Nicohl Parekalam, Talia Berryman and Lilly Pickering.

Match Officials for the historic event will be New Zealander Liam O’Brien (men’s game) and Australian Andrew Charles (women’s game).
The Singapore Sunbirds will face the Vanuatu women’s team in an extended nine-a-side game at 1:30pm local time (10:30am SGT | 12:30pm AEST), whilst the Memerang will face the Vanuatu men’s team at 3:00pm local time (12:00pm SGT | 2:00pm AEST).
